Whose Streets

This ongoing series that began in 2015, highlights one of Mitch’s strongest beliefs: that existing is a fundamental human right. Through this body of work, Mitch challenges the viewers laws and beliefs around loitering. By questioning who is allowed to occupy public space and who is not Mitch invites viewers to reflect on how presence itself can be regulated or restricted.

This work encourages the audience to look beyond everyday assumptions about loitering and instead explore its deeper historical and social context. By bringing attention to these laws and their impact, Mitch wants the viewers to consider how ideas of belonging, visibility, and control shape our shared public spaces.

Ultimately, Mitch wants you to ask “Who is allowed to exist in public life?”
